Japan is a civilization uniquely rooted in timber. This three-day journey traces the profound "Cycle of Wood"—a narrative where raw timber is breathed into life by master artisans, transformed into divine architecture, converted into sacred energy as charcoal, and finally elevated into the spiritual realm of the Tea Ceremony.
Your exploration begins at the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum, the fountainhead of Japan's world-renowned woodworking culture, where history is unveiled through the very tools of the craft. Guided by a practicing master carpenter, you will gain deep insight into the wisdom and spirit required to master wood. This is followed by a visit to the National Treasure Jodo-ji Temple, where you will stand within a monumental wooden sanctuary that stands as a testament to these perfected skills.
On the second day, you will venture into the Satoyama of Kawanishi, the birthplace of "Kiku-zumi"—the most exquisite charcoal prized by tea masters. By performing a tea ceremony with the very charcoal you have gathered, you will experience the delicate symbiosis between nature and humanity. The journey concludes at the Oyamazaki Villa, where traditional wooden heritage meets contemporary architecture, revealing the enduring legacy of the "Spirit of Wood" in the modern world. This is a refined, intellectual odyssey designed to be felt by the soul.
